How can you avoid thinking short term?

Yesterday we explored American culture and how short-term thinking is leading to a host of issues across the nation. Today we'll be exploring what this means for you and what you can do about it.

What your peace looks like is up to you. Happiness expert Daniel Gilbert explains the best way to know whether you’ll enjoy or hate something long-term is to ask a group of people what their experiences are long-term. The new American dream will almost certainly make you unhappy and give you some sort of health problem whether that be mental or physical. So what does this mean for you?

People are wired to fear scarcity. These actions show that what is being demanded of people in Western society is too much and that people don’t feel they have enough of what American society values to live comfortably within themselves. It demonstrates that being well-off is beneficial to happiness to a point, but there is more to life than money.

After exploring what success is and comparing success with fulfilment, optimal success appears to be having more than average in terms of earnings but there’s what creates a fulfilling life long-term are sustainable habits, but what habits are best? What kind of people stick to them and what can you learn from them? I have an idea of where to start. I'll tell you about it tomorrow.

By the way, if you've been reading all of these, thank you. I hope you know how much I apprecciate your time :)
